Earlier in our blog, I wrote about pet insurance and pet wellness and explained the both concepts in depth. At this point, you are very likely to ask yourself if your pet really needs pet insurance or not. Or if it is profitable for you to have pet insurance. This blog post will be an answer to these questions.
Should You Buy Pet Insurance?
Pet Insurance has become so popular that a quite high percentage of pet owners started buying pet insurance policies. In my opinion, it is not really worth having a pet insurance or pet wellness policy.
First of all, pet insurance premiums are quite high. If you search for pet insurance quotes online, you will see that you will need to pay really high amounts for the health insurance of your pet.
No one knows your pet better than you. If you have been owning your pet for over one year, you most probably know about the health issues of your pet. If your pet does not have any important health issues, you should never buy pet insurance. Because, in this case your pet insurance policy will most probably be a waste of time.
If your pet is old, then it is more likely to get sick. In this sense, you will be offered even higher pet insurance premiums as your pet is in the high risk level group in terms of health issues. In this case, having a pet insurance policy may make more sense but still as you will be paying unbeliavably high premiums, it is still likely that your pet insurance policy will not be profitable for you.
What About Pet Wellness?
Pet wellness is an even worse choice. You can apply everything I mentioned about pet insurance to pet wellness. It is not mandatory for your pet to have pet wellness and you can think of it as a luxury service. If you are not rich or over a certain financial level, it will be a poor choice for you to buy a pet wellness policy for your pet.
